The 2025 Rendezvous will be at Dodson Boatyard in Stonington, Ct.
UPDATE: 7/28/25
Due to complications and uncertainty at the various marinas at Three Mile Harbor, we changed that previously proposed venue to Stonington, Ct. which is located just east and north of the east end of Fishers Island. Stonington is roughly 30 nm from Greenport.
Our destination is Dodson's Boatyard, about 1/2 way up the Stonington Harbor on the east shore which has 110 moorings with a launch service. Boats under 60ft pay $106.35 per night, which includes the launch. Slips, when available, are $5 per ft. Although they do not take reservations, I was assured a non-holiday weekend, such as Aug 8-10 would not be a problem getting a mooring. Slips are less certain, but if available, they would offer them, if you ask for one. (On my last visit, I was able to secure a slip). Showers, restrooms and laundry are also available.
Dodson's phone number is 860-535-1507, however that office number is available M-F 8am – 4m. To secure a mooring assignment, they will not take a phone reservation. They advise to call via VHF radio on CH 78 to secure your mooring / dock assignment as you are nearing the marina.
The mooring launch service is available every day from 7:30 am to 10:00 pm.
Check in and check out hours are fairly casual: “around noon”.
After arrival on Friday, we will meet for drinks and dinner at Dog Watch Cafe at 6:30pm. I need a head count for reservations which are only taken as early as one week prior and in groups of 6, so PLEASE text Artie (845-519-9711) as soon as you can and let me know how many will be in your party. We will let you know the Saturday night dinner venue when we have a final count of attendees. There are many good restaurants in the area.
Stonington has many structures dating back as far as the 18th century lining Water Street. The lighthouse dates back to 1840 and can be visited for $15 (or $10 seniors over 65). Acquired by the Stonington Historical Society in 1927 for $3,650, it became the nation’s first lighthouse museum. To access the duBois Beach at the end of the peninsula, just south of the lighthouse, day passes can be obtained for $15 between 10am and 4pm.
As in recent years, we will start the Rendezvous weekend at Billy's by the Bay in Greenport at 5pm Thursday night, Aug 7. For navigation purposes, note the southeast ebb tide starts at the Race in LI sound at 11:36 am on Friday, and 12:30pm on Sunday. We will depart Stonington on Sunday Aug 10.
Call Artie Bortz if you have any questions! 845-519-9711 (please leave a message if I don’t pick up). Please let Artie or Dave Comando know if you plan to attend.
Thanks!
